PRACTICE PAGES

You’ve arrived at your second set of practice pages. What have you taken from this chapter on the interconnection between mind and body? How are you going to begin your journey to becoming more connected to your body or your family history? What dimension do you want to jump in and start working on?

Our heads are often noisy, over-stimulated and full of negative thoughts, which can lead to feelings of confusion, sadness, resentment and anxiety. We tend to suppress these feelings because we are ill equipped to deal with them, and instead simply put up with our minds working in overdrive. But when we do this we create blockages and pain inside our bodies, which can result in sickness, tiredness and a complete disconnection between mind, body and soul. Detangling our heads enables us to sift through our thought patterns, become aware of them and figure out which thoughts serve us and which do not. When we spend time focusing on our thoughts, we become more aware of them and learn how to control them, instead of letting them control us. Subconscious thinking leads to subconscious behaviours, which tend to be out of date (stemming from our childhoods) and can be toxic, so when we detangle our heads we are learning how to think more mindfully.
